Life In Our Parish PDF Print E-mail

St Alban's is a vibrant, constantly evolving parish, with many great ministries and activities. At our Sunday services, we meet together to study the word of God and gather around the Lord's table as we celebrate communion.

Both the 9:00 am and 11:00 am services provide child care, and the 9:00 am service provides Sunday School and nursery.

We want to be a church that while continualy getting bigger, also gets smaller. We want every member to feel that they are a part of the St Alban's family. In an effort to build such a community, throughout the year we run many courses and Bible Studies.

There are many ways for people to be involved at St Alban's. We can't wait to see how God is calling you to serve at St Alban's!

We have guest services where parishioners are encouraged to invite friends and family to hear the message of the Bible specifically targeted at non-believers. We value evangelism and hope to continue to serve God and fulfill the commands of Matthew 28; "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations."

In keeping with this, many parishioners at St Alban's have served on short-term missions, something which we are proud to support. The Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship chapter at University of Ottawa has sent several teams, including St Albanites, to Ecuador, and we have been delighted to support these missionaries both financially and in prayer. Members of our parish have also been on short-term missions to Madagascar, Mexico, Ecuador, Cyprus and Kazakhstan.

We have a great heart for student ministry at St Alban's, and our proximity to the University of Ottawa Campus is challenging us to get out there and witness to students. St. Alban's college and careers group The House has club status at the University of Ottawa, which encourages students to come and hear the Word with us at St Alban's.

We, as a church, are a member of Willow Creek Association Canada (WCAC), a network of churches committed to build prevailing churches that will reach our country for Christ. As members of WCAC, we declare that the work of Christ, through the local church, is the hope of the world. WCAC is an international commitment that links St Alban's to a wider community of practitioners committed to giving their best to God and to each other.

We support the Artizo program for training young people in ministry. This means we take on interns who undertake a one-year program of training and serving God in the church, as they discern whether they are called to full-time paid ministry. This is a program based in Vancouver, but more specifically originates from the Ministry Training Strategy (MTS) program in Australia.
